…This is a continuation of the Star Trek Online guide on ships,Incase you haven’t read it, you can find it at Star Trek Online Ships Guide. In this post we will see what the major differences are that seperate the 3 major Ship Categories, Science Vessels, Cruisers and Escorts.
These ships differ from each other functionally along the following parameters, here’s going in a little more in depth.Arrangement of Bridge Officer Stations: Science Vessels have more Science Officer Stations, Escorts prefer Tactical Officer Stations and Cruisers favor Engineering Officer stations.
Utility:Cruisers have a lot of crew, they have a lot of power to distribute across their subsystems and they repair very rapidly. Escorts on the other hand are small vessels that effectively act as the gunboats of the Federation Fleet, they move and maneuver very fast and can equip firearm canons. Science Vessels specialize in targeting subsystems and have the innate ability to detect cloaked ships.
