Preview of the upcoming Star Trek Online MMORPG game

…One of many upcoming MMORPG games in 2009, Star Trek Online is possibly the most anticipated one. There are millions of die hard fans around the globe eager to see what Cryptic Studios has to offer, including myself. Here’s an early beta review posted on mmorpg.com. Enjoy!
Just how innovative is STO? What will make STO better and different? Ship customizations, vivid character creation, intense PvP on the ground and in space, possible PC/Console hybrid, where console and PC units can connect to the same sever - and explore together sounds like a good start to me.
To me, STO is going to go where no MMO has truly gone before. The level of customization that Cryptic is said to offer is staggering, but wait, haven’t we seen great customization before? Haven’t we all played Spore? Or perhaps another Cryptic game known as City of Heroes? There’s a difference here, and that is content. Yes, Spore isn’t an MMO, but let’s take a deeper look. I am back with more footage of me playing Star Trek Online. It has been a while since my last video, so I have made many improvements to my starship. A good thing too, because as you will see, the missions get much more difficult. Romulans are very tough, and make the Klingons look like jokes in this game. Romulans will target your engines, capture you in tractor beams, and light your ship on fire with high-yield plasma torpedos. During my adventures I have discovered the wonders of Anomaly Data, which can be used at Memory Alpha, in Alpha Centauri system. It will combine the samples of data you find and combine them with ordinary items to produce new ones, this is kind of like STO’s crafting system. I suggest you start making items ASAP because you need to unlock each tier of items by making lots of them. A market terminal is close to the vendor who combines your data. However, players charge ridiculous amounts of energy credits for samples, so looking for items to combine them with is cheaper, so make sure you scan and obtain anamoly data samples and use them, they cap off at 50 in your inventory (I assume this is a anti gold-farmer tactic, which works) Additionally I discovered the usefulness of exploration badges. In this video I am on a exploration mission in a uncharted star system, these instances are sharable with teammates, and are completely random. However there is not much diversity, so you may end up repeating some exploration missions. But the rewards for …

Star Trek Online: The Space MMORPG in a long-history

On 2 February 2010 had come: Cryptic went boldly go where no Star Trek games had been before: online. And, quite rightly is not. Many Star Trek games like Star Trek credits: Armada and Star Trek: Elite Force Multiplayer modes are supported .
